Abstract

Development and assessment of student digital competencies is a challenge for Ukrainian teachers. In 2015-2016, scientists of Institute of Information Technologies and Learning Tools conducted a survey for secondary schools teachers on the issues of safe and responsible use of the Internet in the framework of the theme "Formation of the informational and educational environment for the training of high school students on the basis of technologies of electronic social networks". An analysis of the results of the survey shows that teachers are not purely aware on teaching and evaluation of such digital competences by students. Teachers and their students become isolated from information sources, which are now widely used in teaching and for science. The transition of the Ukrainian school to the new competent standards requires a profound awareness of the need for the formation of competencies related to the collection, processing and use of information, new pedagogical approaches by teachers to teaching and assessing of such competences.
