Abstract

The article presents an analytical review of the Laws and regulations of development strategy of modern education in general and pre-school education in Ukraine in particular; it outlines the main approaches to education of a preschool age child; psychophysiological features and individual characteristics of a junior preschool age child are characterized, the expediency of creating natural, social, objective and developmental environment for all-round development of a child is shown. Special attention is focused on timely development of a preschool age child in sensitive periods of preschool childhood. It is emphasized that junior pre-school school age is a start period of intensive personality development of a child, formation of moral ideas and forms of social behavior, and a sensitive period for language and speech development. This process is closely linked with the development of emotional and volitional sphere and formation of interests and motives that is determined by social environment and relationships with adults. The dominating role of play activities and child’s main achievements in cognitive (understanding of relations of different spheres of reality, creative and logical thinking, sensory and intellectual abilities) and emotional-volitional development (techniques of self-regulation, independence in behavior, conscious discipline and a sense of duty) are stated.
