Abstract
In the article the problem of learning and human development from the standpoint of materialism (G. Kostyuk) and idealism (G. Vashchenko). It clarified that the personality Kostiuk considers as a determined social conditions, training and education of the dialectical process of self-motion as a result of internal contradictions. It is found in the views of G. Vaschenko future Ukrainian educational system in independent Ukraine: Ideology based on Christianity; inclusion of religion in the school curriculum, the creation of Ukrainian Academy of pedagogical sciences; creation of youth organizations.
