Abstract
The article carried the psychological understanding of creativity Shevchenko from the standpoint of materialism (Kostiuk) and psychoanalysis (S. Baley, J. Yarema). Refinedfeatures poet psychology of creativity: the protective mechanisms such as regression and projection; childhood influence on the work (sympathy for the depressed and humiliated, the cult of women and motherhood, love for Ukraine, protest against the violence against the person). Established psychological views of Taras Shevchenko: the relationship of thoughts and feelings with words, contradictory psychic life, the influence of emotions on the activity, the activity of the individual.
