Abstract
The author analyzes the evolution of ideas about a woman leader from the middle of the last century to the present. Career climbing for women is still a challenge, due to a number of problems. A woman-leader must constantly prove to herself and others, that she can cope with her business. The results of analysis of the last century of scientific sources allow us to assert that the disbelief to women’s leadership possibilities is based on the completely justified ideas obtained by researchers in the different areas of knowledge. The main factors are the differences in the cognitive sphere of men and women, leading to the lower level of women’s aspiration in their quest for success. At the beginning of the new millennium orthodoxy scientists and mass consciousness has become somewhat softened. Modern researchers agree that the differences exist between women and men in leadership opportunities. The investigators emphasize that such factor does not overlap the women way to career growth. It only confirms the necessity of searching the leadership models destroying sex-role stereotypes, from one side, and from the other, it provides success of the business started earlier.
