Abstract

The paper is devoted to analyses of the main aspects of accreditation of higher educational institutions, which was established and is successfully functioning in the USA. The author stressed the balance between the interests of the key stakeholders and their mutual control regarding the quality of higher education. The standards and approaches toward accreditation are observed through the experience of the oldest accreditation agency – New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). The importance of American experience in accreditation of higher educational institutions in the process of reforms of Ukrainian system of accreditation is also mentioned.
