Abstract
The results of psychological research of poverty as a lifestyle are highlighted in monograph. This investigation was the first in Ukraine and one of the first in the world science. The obtained results are summarized in a theory of social and psychological determination of poverty as a lifestyle, semantic basis of which are social and psychological factors of poverty in Ukrainian society. The factors are identified and described in connection with such areas of individual and collective life as a value-orientation, political, legal, educational, professional self-constitution, acquisition and use of social capital, family relationships, gender interaction, stay in urban or rural environment, and attitude to health. It is addressed to researchers in the fields of social and economic psychology, teachers and students of higher educational institutions, practical psychologists and social workers who deal with representatives of problem social groups.
